Our House of Judah Sponsorship Program is focused on providing the opportunity for children living on the streets of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to receive education, nutrition, medical care and discipleship that would otherwise not be available to them.
We launched our first home in June of 2013 with 12 shoeshine boys and a "Big Brother". The shoeshine boys largely come from Wolaita Sodo, a district in the Southern Nations, in search of better opportunities in Addis Ababa. Lone shoeshine boys can be seen carrying their shoeshine box and supplies wandering the streets in search of a shoe to be polished. This is a very common scene all over the city.
Reading the Word
We opened our second home in March of 2014. We knew almost from the launch of our first home the five shoeshine boys that would join our second house, and the government chose 7 orphans from one of the most destitute of public orphanages in the city, many call the children in this orphanage "The Lost Boys", because they seem to be forgotten, lost in a city of millions. How appropriate that they came to be placed with I AM not 4gotten Ministries. God is sweet in His affirmation.
Each child is given the opportunity to meet with a trained social worker that monitors the child’s growth, makes sure all the child’s needs are met and builds an encouraging relationship with him or her. More importantly, we wish to share God’s love with these children and help disciple them in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We know we cannot change the course of these sweet children's lives, but with God's guiding Hand, discipleship and education, together, we can stop the cycle of poverty.
